Spinning
The 'run & gun' tuna fishing is extremely spectacular!
Once fish are detected, any combination of lures, cut bait and/or live bait can be thrown in an attempt to entice a bite. After locating a school of tuna that is chasing schools of baitfish to the surface, it's a matter of throwing your lure right into the center of the school of fish, slowly turning a few turns and... BITE!
But as quickly as the hunting party appear, they disappear again, only to reappear a few hundred meters away. In short: cast once or twice and look for the next school of fish. Tuna is an incredibly fast fish that never stops swimming. So plenty of hard and explosive runs.
Trolling
Trolling is an ancient angling technique that has fascinated enthusiasts for generations. At its core, trolling involves the artful presentation of a lure or bait behind a moving vessel, enticing fish to strike as the mesmerizing action draws them in. As an angling technique, trolling differs from other fishing methods because of its unique approach.
Rather than casting and retrieving, trolling focuses on maintaining the steady, forward motion of the boat to create a lifelike and enticing movement of the lure or bait. This method requires the angler to strategically position his offering at different depths, distances and speeds to effectively target specific fish species.
Bonefishing
About 40 years ago, Captain Chris discovered that there was excellent bonefish fishing here on Bonaire. In the ensuing years, he has mentored virtually everyone (local travel agents, ESPN film crews, and even Salt Water Sportsman writers) from around the world who was even remotely connected to the sport of bonefishing.
Yet somehow Bonaire has managed to remain a truly special kind of secret destination. The southeast of Bonaire offers several square kilometers of prime bonefish grounds with shallow, crystal clear warm water of only 90 cm maximum depth.
Reef fishing
Fishing on reefs is fun for several reasons, but mainly because you are almost always guaranteed some form of action there. There are also a variety of ways you can catch fish from the reefs, from trolling lures over and around the reefs to bottom fishing, which usually involves dropping your bait directly onto the fish in the reef. Drift fishing can also produce good catches if you let your bait drift over the reef, covering more water than just bottom fishing. Perfect for the light tackle angler targeting jacks, snappers, rainbow runners and barracuda, to name a few
Jigging
Jigging is the fishing technique used to fish vertically: a metal lure is dropped to a desired depth (usually to the bottom) and then retrieved with rhythmic movements to attract the attention of the predatory fish.
A normal reel or a reel can be used for jigging. The line is best braided because it has less stretch. The rods are generally shorter (less leverage and less tiring) and should allow good action to be given to the jig. There is an endless range of jigs: long blades, slow jigs, inchiku etc
